Etude #2

Use processes to compose a short algorithmic piece (1 to 2 minutes) for traditional instruments. Your piece should reflect a 'syntheses' of two completely contrasting composition methods: 12-tone techniques (use your 12-tone toolkit) and random selection. Make sure that you provide all the files necessary to generate the composition and that your files are well documented so that someone other than you can easliy generate the piece from your instructions. The output of your project should be realized in one (or more) of the following:

1. Real time processes sending data to a Mainstage ensemble
2. Process writing data to MIDI file or MUsic XML/lilypond files and loaded into Sibelius. NOTE: if you edit generated material in Sibelius you must indicate what you added by hand and the original output of your algorithms must still be available.

Be sure to copy the assignment files to your 404A1/Work subdirectory after your composition is completed.
